Abstract

Velika porast bioloških in biomedicinskih eksperimentalnih in računskih podatkov v zadnjih letih je povzročila povečanje števila publikacij. Učinkovita računalniška orodja, ki v ustrezno kratkem času izluščijo in razvrstijo najbolj relevantne informacije o specifični tematiki, so zato bistvenega pomena za uspešno znanstvenoraziskovalno delo. Učinkovita in do uporabnika prijazna spletna aplikacija za analizo in vizualizacijo trendov v znanstveni literaturi je pri tem delu ključnega pomena. Razvito orodje daje možnost ogleda dolgoročnega in kratkoročnega trenda določene tematike, saj se je kombinacija dveh sistemov za pridobivanje referenc izkazala za uspešno, dodatno pa nudi tudi možnost izvoza podatkov v Microsoft Office Excel. Zaradi zakasnitev pri objavljanju znanstvenih prispevkov dolgoročni trend sledi aktualnemu dogajanju na znanstvenem področju z zamikom, kratkoročni trend pa sledi aktualni tematiki v realnem času. Z učinkovito aplikacijo za iskanje trendov v literaturi lažje sledimo trenutnemu težišču razvoja posameznega področja, pridobivamo aktualne informacije in usmerjamo raziskovalno delo.

Secondary abstract: A large increase in biological and biomedical experimental and computational data in recent years has led to an increase in the number of publications. Efficient computational tools which quickly extract and classify the most relevant information about a specific subject, are therefore essential for successful scientific work. An efficient and user-friendly web application for analysis and visualization of trends in the scientific literature is crucial in this work. A comprehensive tool provides the ability to view long-term and short-term trends of a particular theme. The combination of those two systems proved to be successful in obtaining the necessary references. In addition it offers the possibility to export data to Microsoft Office Excel. Because of delays in publication of scientific papers the long-term trend follows the current developments in science with a lag, the short-term trend is following the topical issue in real time. With an effective application that searches for trends in the literature, we easier follow the current center of gravity of each area of development, we get current information and that fore better guidance of our research.
