diplomsko delo
Abstract

Transition of Graduates from Education to the Labor Market |
Secondary abstract: |
This paper studies the transition of university graduates from university studies to the labour market. The main goal of young people after graduation is to find a job which would match their qualifications. People with a job are socially and economically independent and are able to pursue their life goals. Due to unstable conditions in the labour market, however, the transition of university graduates to the working environment may be difficult, which leads to different negative consequences.
The aim of this paper was to study the main problems young graduates face upon the transition from university studies to the labour market. The theoretical part describes the labour market in Slovenia, the position of university graduates in the labour market, the transition of university graduates from university studies to the labour market and the connection between educational institutions and the labour market, focusing primarily on tertiary education and student work. Based on the results of a survey conducted in the 1ka online program, the empirical part tries to determine: the prevalence of student work among young people and its impact on youth employment, skills acquired during studies, ways to find the first job and main obstacles job seekers face after graduation. In the empirical part, respondents' responses are shown in form of graphs, accompanied by comments. The research results showed that student work does not contribute to a higher employment rate among university graduates and that they enter the labour market with no work experience and skills required by employers due to a poor connection between educational institutions and the labour market, which is why young people extend their studies and enter the labour market fairly late. |
