Abstract

Secondary title: The Question of Ethics and Morals in Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky
Secondary abstract: This undergraduate thesis focuses on the main character of the novel, Rodja Romanovich Raskolnikov and the main event, with which Rodja wants to test his theory about the existence of two types of people. When discussing both types, we refer to Raskolnikov’s and Nietzsche’s thoughts, opinions and views. In relation to the notion of ethics, conscience and morality, we discus about the crime in the novel and his real punishment being his inner struggle and split of character, and not serving a prison sentence in Siberia.
