Abstract

Metode: Uporabili smo deskriptivno metodo dela, izvedli smo pregled in analizo literature.

Secondary title: The effectiveness of the SBAR communication tool in healthcare team for ensuring patient safety
Secondary abstract: Introduction: Effective communication in the healthcare team ensures the exchange of all relevant information for the appropriate medical treatment of the patient and is critical for ensuring patient safety and preventing negative health outcomes. At the same time, communication errors in communication among nurses and between nurses and doctors are relatively common and cause a large proportion of adverse events. The purpose of the final work was to investigate the optimization of communication of the medical team with the implementation of the communication tool SBAR. Methods: We used a descriptive method and conducted a review and analysis of the literature. The set of literature was obtained from the bibliographic databases PubMed, CINAHL, MEDLINE with predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The process of the literature review is presented in a PRISMA diagram, and the collected data are synthesized using content analysis. Results: The results of 8 selected papers show that the SBAR communication tool is an effective tool for ensuring patient safety, but the results largely depend on the implementation method. The implementation of the SBAR communication tool can be realized in several ways, from simply sharing information material among employees to organizing training and continuously evaluating the effects at the level of employee assessments and/or health service outcomes. Discussion and conclusion: A review of the literature confirms the results of previous studies that the SBAR communication tool reduces the risk of error by optimizing communication between healthcare team members and thus optimizes patient safety, but the effects depend on the adequacy of the tool implementation.
