Secondary abstract: | This essay reads the poetry of the Slovenian poet Katja Perat as a means to examine existential possibility within and beyond the conditions of its creation. To that end, the essay invokes a decolonial theoretical framework that critiques the Eurocentricity of the epistemology of rationality/modernity. That framework suits Perat’s poetry, which similarly interrogates the limits of that Eurocentric epistemology. Thus, the analytical framework helps to illuminate the liberatory ethic of Perat’s poetry, which artfully and defiantly seeks greater existential possibility and therefore justice for her readers. |
