Abstract

Uporabili smo kvantitativno metodologijo raziskovanja, izvedli smo deskriptivno presečno raziskavo. Študijo smo izvedli z anketnim vprašalnikom lestvice medkulturne občutljivosti na vzorcu 110 študentov zdravstvene nege. Analizo podatkov v namen potrditve hipotez smo izvedli s T - testom (H1 in H3) in testom Anova (H2).

Secondary title: Cultural sensitivity among students of nursing care
Secondary abstract: We live in a world where we communicate and meet people from different cultures on a daily basis. To be culturally sensitive means to have a special attitude towards the people from different cultures as well as to be respectful in cooperation with such society. The purpose of the thesis is to investigate the cultural sensitivity of students of nursing care and to determine the level of cultural sensitivity based on the analysis of the results. We used a quantitative research methodology, we conducted a descriptive cross-sectional survey. The study was conducted with a questionnaire of the scale of intercultural sensitivity on a sample of 110 nursing care students. Data analysis for the purpose of confirming hypotheses was performed with T - test (H1 and H3) and Anova test (H2). Statistical analysis was made by using the IBM SPSS software tool, version 24.0. The level of cultural sensitivity of nursing care students is medium (x ̅ = 3.4617). We find that there are no statistically significant differences in the assessment of cultural sensitivity between male and female students, nor between study methods. However, differences in the assessment of cultural sensitivity were found between students attending the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year of the nursing care study program. Strategies aimed at raising awareness and teaching about cultural sensitivity among nursing care students should be developed. This would help to improve students' self-confidence and better interaction with the culturally-distinct persons.
