Abstract

Večina stanovalcev navaja zadovoljstvo z delom negovalnega tima. Menimo, da kakovost bivanja v domskem varstvu izpolnjuje pričakovanja starostnikov. Malo je stvari nad katerimi so se starostniki pritožili. Dobro opravljeno delo članov negovalnega tima v domskem varstvu pomeni izpolnitev pričakovanja starostnikov in njihovo zadovoljstvo, upoštevati pa moramo še zadovoljstvo zaposlenih in njihovo učinkovito delo.

Secondary title: SATISFACTION OF THE ELDERLY WITH THEIR STAY IN INSTITUTIONAL CARE
Secondary abstract: Theoretical bases: Living in nursing homes means for the elderly that they are taken care of by a number of caregivers, ensuring their wellbeing and providing them with necessary care. It also means that they are surrounded by their peers. The elderly expect from their caregivers kindness, understanding, help, confidentiality and the ability to listen. The aim of this paper is to present factors that influence the satisfaction of the elderly with their stay in a nursing home. Methodology of research: The research was based on the descriptive method of work with an anonymous questionnaire. The survey was carried out in the nursing home of Radlje ob Dravi. Forty elderly citizens with no diagnosed cognitive changes participated. Results and discussion: The results of the survey showed that more than half of the elderly interviewed is satisfied with the living environment, although individual residents do mention the fact that they lack their own room. Regarding the communication with the caregiver team, the residents think that there is not enough communication going on, or rather they wish the caregivers would spend more time talking to them. Most of the elderly residents are satisfied with the food in the nursing home, but some think their eating habits should be taken in consideration more. The majority of the residents state their satisfaction with the caregivers’ work. We think that the quality of life in nursing homes meets the expectations of the elderly. The issues over which the elderly complained are not many. A job well done by the caregiver team in nursing homes comprises of meeting the expectations of the elderly and their satisfaction. We also have to take in consideration the satisfaction of the employed and the efficiency of their work.
