diplomsko delo univerzitetnega študija
Abstract

LEGITIMACY AND PROCEDURAL JUSTICE |
Secondary abstract: |
The period of adolescence is one of the most important periods in our life. In that period, every individual moulds certain norms, values, viewpoints and absorbs certain patterns of behavior which he/she will most likely pursue in life. Therefore it is even more important to see what rules, values and standards he/she wishes to defend and comply with. When growing up, adolescents are subjected to many influences from their environment. These influences have a relatively strong impact on his/her behavior, conveying some sort of message to us as well as to the society. It is especially important, however, that these messages are correctly interpreted, since in that period every person is very open in expressing his/her disagreement, opposition to values, standards, viewpoints obtained in the primary stage of socialization when he/she has not yet been subjected to a wider society and when his/her development was limited to his/her narrow family. In the period when young adults are preparing to leave their safe shelter of childhood, where he/she has lived together with the family, and step on an unknown, yet tempting path of adulthood, particularly their deviant behavior comes on the surface, i.e. the behavior when individual does not behave in compliance with social norms, but to a certain extent opposes them with his/her behavior, begins violating them. In the time of adolescence, young people oppose norms, rules and patterns of behavior which they acquired in the first phase of their socialization and they internalize other, completely new rules. In this diploma paper, I specifically focus on confidence in police work, in compliance with laws on the side of adult adolescents. I wish to establish to what extent young adults comply with laws and who has the influence upon them if they do not. Here, I relied on procedural and distributive justice in relation to legitimacy of police work in connection with adult adolescents in Slovenia, where procedural justice is based on the quality of decision-making and the quality of interpersonal relationships in proceedings, while distributive justice is a special sort of justice which aims at establishing the principles and mechanisms for a just distribution of common property and burden among individual members of society. In diploma paper, I came to the conclusion that confidence in the Slovenian police among adult adolescents is favourable, the level of confidence is higher among adolescents who are not deviant, and that police is effective in protecting human rights while its efficiency has influence upon a higher level of confidence. |
