Abstract

Specifične sposobnosti in osebnostne lastnosti oceni psiholog. Z raziskavo o vožnji sem preučila mnenje dveh starostnih skupin: • mnenje oseb starih do 60 let o vožnji oseb starih nad 60 let in • mnenje o svoji vožnji oseb starih nad 60 let.

Secondary abstract: Traffic can be defined as the movement of passengers, goods and messages. In the European Union, road traffic is perceived as the principal means of transport of passengers and goods. Road safety is one of the basic qualities of the traffic system; to ensure it, road users must be provided with different kinds of encouragement. People belonging to various age groups are involved in the traffic, including those in late adulthood, i.e. older than 60 years. An occupational physician and a psychologist are conducting driving ability tests. The occupational physician checks health-related capacities for driving, while the psychologist examines specific abilities and personal traits. In Slovenia, Europe and elsewhere, the number of people older than 60 years has increased. It is envisaged that by 2025, 1,100 million people will be older than 60 years. All road users should consider the following preventive measures: respecting speed limits, fastening seatbelts, wearing reflective gear at dusk and at night, not driving under the influence of alcohol, etc. My research on driving dealt with the opinion of two age groups: • opinion of people up to 60 years old about driving of people older than 60 years; and • opinion of people older than 60 years about their own diving. The results suggest that younger generations believe that people older than 60 years should re-apply for their driving licence. They also state that people older than 60 years have difficulties adapting to change in road traffic. However, people older than 60 years do not agree with the statement suggesting that they have difficulties with roundabouts. But they do acknowledge that they should re-take the medical examination as a result of impairment of driving ability.
