Nowadays, packaging is essential in preparing the final product for sale. Reducing the amount of packaging also reduces the amount of packaging waste. Re-use can be achieved by introducing returnable packaging, but that is associated with certain economic, logistical, and environmental problems. The highest packaging recycling rate can be achieved by introducing a circular economy. Still, there are significant differences in this area depending on the material composition of the packaging.
In the thesis, we investigated the state of the packaging waste management in Slovenia and the EU area, as well as the references and the users' level of awareness. The general part of the thesis includes a review of domestic and foreign scientific and professional literature in the field. We have included an overview of the different types of packaging in terms of material composition, regulations, trends, and indicative targets. In the empirical part, a survey of Slovenian and German citizens was carried out using a questionnaire. The concluding part of the thesis was done using the methods of description, compilation, and analysis. |
