magistrsko delo
Abstract
Z rezultati biološke delavnice smo želeli preveriti zanimanje in motiviranost otrok do terenskega dela.

Fieldwork as a Science Workshop for School Children on Summer Holidays |
| Secondary abstract: |
We know from practice that pupils nowadays lack laboratory work and fieldwork during biology and natural science classes. It is important that pupils understand the topics they learn in school. It is crucial that they know how to link theory with practice, which is possible through active forms of learning such as laboratory work and fieldwork. In fieldwork, pupils strengthen their competence in resourcefulness, independence, diligence, planning, and cooperation. When laboratory work and fieldwork are implemented into lessons, pupils are more motivated to work. Therefore, it is important for teachers to organize as many active lessons as possible in the form of laboratory work and fieldwork, as this helps pupils to gain confidence and motivation, which in turn leads to better academic performance. The aim of the master’s thesis was to carry out a biology workshop at the seaside during children’s holidays in Punat, Croatia, with the Maribor Red Cross. The results of the biology workshop were used to research the children’s interests and motivations towards fieldwork. We wanted to see whether the children would like to do more fieldwork in comparison to traditional lessons in classrooms. During the workshop, the pupils received a worksheet with a questionnaire to assess which skills they acquired through the fieldwork, what new things they had learned, how often they carried out laboratory work and fieldwork in schools, and whether they would want more fieldwork during their regular lessons. The results of the questionnaire suggest that the pupils would like to do more fieldwork, as they emphasize that it makes the lessons more interesting, because they interact with children their age and learn something new at the same time. We concluded that the biology workshop provided them with skills that they would not have acquired in a regular classroom. |
