Abstract

The influence of social phobia on the quality of life of adolescent |
Secondary abstract: |
Adolescence is a period characterized by big changes and is a time in which an individual forms his or her identity. During this period, various anxiety disorders most often occur, but they visibly affect the life of the individual. Social phobia is one of the most common anxiety disorders it is a risk factor for various disorders and problems later in life. The individual's relationship with people, academic success and ability to work are particularly at risk. In the research study we reviewed professional and scientific literature in English. We searched for the material in the following international databases: PubMed, MEDLINE and Science direct. The articles used were related to the selected topic and were systematically studied. They were freely accessible and fully published and were not older than 10 years. We observe the negative impact of social phobia on interpersonal relationships. Adolescents increasingly prefer to take refuge in a virtual world where they can pretend to be someone else. Situations where a face-to-face contact occurs are very stressful for them and they feel uncomfortable. Moreover, students have poorer school performance, which in turn affects their later professional life. Due to social phobia, many of them have problems with their ability to work, so these individuals are characterized by a greater absence from work. All research shows that social phobia negatively affects the quality of life of adolescents in several areas. We believe that more studies should focus on the topic because it is still underresearched and above all because it affects the adolescents present and will also influence his or her future and important decisions. |
