Abstract

Teoretična izhodišča. V diplomskem delu bomo predstavili kronični revmatoidni artritis, kronični potek bolezni in različne oblike zdravljenja. Namen. Z uporabo terapevtskih pomagal, opornic in redno vsakodnevno telesno telovadbo pacientka preprečuje jutranjo okorelost sklepov ter izboljša gibljivost, kar ji omogoča opravljanje vsakodnevnih opravil.

Secondary title: Quality of life of patients with chronic rheumatoid arthritis
Secondary abstract: Theoretical background. In the study we present chronic rheumatoid arthritis, chronic course of disease and various forms of treatment. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune, chronic inflammatory systemic disease that most affects the joints, but can also affect all other organ systems. Half of the debilitated people must leave their job in less than 10 years of the start of the disease. Rheumatoid arthritis is often seen in women aged 30 to 50 years and if it remains unhealed the disease can lead to disability. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which the lives of a patient diagnosed with chronic rheumatoid arthritis changes and what are the treatments for the disease or for slowing the progression of the disease. The method. The thesis was a qualitative study, using case studies and interview with a female patient in her home environment. Results. We find that a patient with chronic rheumatoid arthritis at the onset of the disease decreases quality of life, she is not able to perform daily activities, go to work, even socially the patient withdraws, closes herself. Physical problems occur when getting up from bed and with self-care. There is constant pain, which leaves the patient with negative emotions. With therapeutic help, braces, regular daily physical exercise the patient prevents morning stiffness and improves flexibility, performance of daily tasks. Again, it creates a sense of a part quality life, but the patient is still considering how she was living before the disease.
