Abstract

Secondary title: HEALTH EDUCATION WORK OF NURSES IN POST-MENOPAUSAL PERIOD
Secondary abstract: The population all around the world is ageing, therefore women spend one third of their life in the period after menopause. Menopausal medicine can help women at reducing menopause-related problems and its main goal is to prevent cardiovascular diseases, diseases of the central nervous system and osteoporosis without causing any harm to the other organs. Besides pharmacological treatment one should also consider non-pharmacological interventions. The purpose of my diploma thesis was to present the educational role of nurses in the post-menopausal period, to investigate whether women have enough information regarding the different hormone therapy methods and how they help themselves with post-menopausal problems. The research was conducted at the Health Centre Lendava by using a descriptive work method. The results of the research show that women receive enough information on hormone treatment methods and that some of them do not know how to ease the symptoms or deal with post-menopausal problems on their own. Most women try to ease the symptoms by exercising, using medications, relaxing and going on massages or with herbal and food supplements.
