Abstract

Doživlja osebno stisko, ostane sama in obupana. Najde kopico razlogov za odločitev za umetno prekinitev nosečnosti in ti so zelo pestri.

Secondary title: Sociological aspects of artificially induced abortion
Secondary abstract: Not every pregnancy is planned and artificially induced abortion is an answer to unwanted pregnancy. It is not easy for women to find themselves in a situation when they must decide whether to terminate the pregnancy or not, distressed, they are on their own and desperate. They find a whole list of various reasons speaking in favour of artificially induced abortion. Slovenian law is positively oriented towards promoting motherhood but women's decisions are quite often based on social factors. The purpose of the bachelor thesis was to present artificially induced abortion from the sociological point of view and also to determine why women find themselves in a situation in which artificially induced abortion constitutes the last resort and what brings about such decisions. Research methodology. An analysis of local and foreign literature facilitated the identification of theoretical starting points. Research was based on quantitative methodology. Data for the empiric part of the thesis was gained by means of a semi-structured questionnaire containing 20 close-ended questions. The research sample included 28 hospitalised women. Results. Based on the results it has been determined that, in most cases, pregnancies are terminated artificially by women of maximum 30 years of age, whose pregnancy is a result of unprotected sexual intercourse. Their decision is impacted by unfavourable social and economic factors pertaining to the woman in question and her family in particular. Conclusion. Based on the results it has been observed that medical staff (nurses) should continue with timely health education, counselling, raising of awareness and informing the broader social community of birth control, pregnancy and artificially induced abortion.
