Abstract

Secondary title: The effect of accelerated aging on the properties of natural insulating materials made of hemp, cork, wood and sheep`s wool
Secondary abstract: One of the key properties in the construction of buildings is the thermal insulation of buildings. In the modern civil engineering industry, a major challenge is the reduction of energy consumption, which is generated during the production of artificial insulation materials. On samples of natural thermal insulation made of wood fibres, hemp, cork and sheep's wool, we used the methods of determining the compressive strength at 10% deformation, determining the contact angle and using microscopy to determine how aging affects thermal insulation. We came to the conclusion that the compressive strengths of all insulating materials decreased after aging, and that the contact angle of natural thermal insulations also decreased. Microscopy showed that, after aging, the layers of natural thermal insulation were delaminated.
