Abstract

Zadetke smo ožili z omejitvenimi kriteriji: obdobje 2012–2022, jezik besedila angleščina in slovenščina, brezplačna dostopnost primernih člankov na podlagi pregledanih izvlečkov v polnem besedilu in recenzirani prispevki.

Secondary title: Use of clinical supervision to prevent stress in nurses in a hospital environment
Secondary abstract: Introduction: Whether we work with patients in the short or long term, the requirements associated with providing services to this unique patient population are not insignificant. Healthcare organizations should strive to provide working conditions that reduce the impact of stress and provide employees with a certain level of quality of working life. In healthcare, as a branch of supportive activity, clinical supervision is slowly but surely gaining ground. Purpose: The purpose of the thesis was to determine how the use of clinical supervision affects the prevention of stress in healthcare professionals in a hospital environment. Methods of work: To achieve the purpose of the diploma work, we used a descriptive method based on a systematic review of the literature. The literature review took place from April to June 2022. The results were narrowed down by restrictive criteria: period 2012–2022, language of the text English and Slovene, free availability of suitable articles based on the reviewed abstracts in full text and peer-reviewed papers. Results: 13 studies were included in the review, including eight quantitative, two qualitative, and three mixed methods. The results of the quantitative analysis showed that effective clinical supervision is associated with lower stress levels, burnout, and staff retention within institutions. Qualitative findings have shown that healthcare professionals believe that appropriate clinical supervision could reduce the risk of burnout, while inadequate clinical supervision can lead to stress and burnout. Evidence from quantitative and qualitative studies complemented each other. Discussion and Conclusion: Clinical supervision control can have different effects on nursing outcomes. The direction of this effect appears to be influenced by the effectiveness of both the clinical supervision provided and the clinical supervisor. This underscores the need for healthcare organizations to invest in high-quality supervision practices if we are to reap the greatest benefits from clinical supervision.
