Abstract
Oba vidika interoceptivnega zavedanja sta pozitivno povezana s povprečno uporabo strategij regulacije čustev, ponovna ocena, sprejemanje in socialno deljenje. Interoceptivno zavedanje je pozitivni napovednik občutenja pozitivnega afekta in ponovna ocena je mediator tega odnosa. Oba vidika interoceptivnega zavedanja sta negativna napovednika nenadzorovanega hranjenja.

Interoceptive awareness in everyday life: role of interoceptive awareness in emotion regulation and maladaptive eating patterns |
Secondary abstract: |
Interoceptive awareness refers to the conscious perception of bodily signals that provide information about the physiological state of the body. It is associated with a variety of outcomes, including emotion regulation and maladaptive eating patterns. An intensive longitudinal study was carried out over the course of seven days. Participants of the study were aged 18-35 years and had no diagnosed mental disorder. The survey used was administered via a smartphone app, where participants were given a short questionnaire about their current well-being seven times a day. The participants also completed a longer introductory questionnaire at the beginning of the survey. One of the key findings of the study is that interoceptive awareness can be considered both a trait and a state due to moderate positive correlation, and that there is almost no change in the state over a course of one week. Both aspects of interoceptive awareness are positively correlated with the average use of the emotion regulation strategies, reappraisal, acceptance and social sharing. Interoceptive awareness is a positive predictor for positive effect experience, with reappraisal being the mediator of this relationship. Both aspects of interoceptive awareness are negative predictors of disordered eating. Interoceptive awareness as a trait is also a negative predictor of maladaptive eating patterns in general. Specific emotion regulation strategies were not identified as mediators between interoceptive awareness and disordered eating. Finally, suggestions for future research and strengths and limitations of the present study are provided. |
