Abstract

Secondary title: Development of a hydro power plant simulation model
Secondary abstract: Nowadays, it would be very difficult to imagine life without electrical energy. Use of water in hydropower plants is one of the key sources of electrical energy. One of the basic criteria in deciding about the economic justification for the construction of hydroelectric power plants is the analysis of electrical energy production. The purpose of this work is development of the mathematical model of a hydropower plant and a the simulation of changes in the hydrodynamic quantities of the considered flow system and calculation of electrical energy production according to selected input data. The importance of using a simulated model is to provide the user with relevant information that can be used in designing a hydropower plant. The application of the model can be based on real or extraordinary hydrological data. The work consists of three parts, which are interconnected and finally connected into a whole in the form of a created model. The first part presents different types of hydropower plants and their operation, a presentation of main parts that make up the hydroelectric power plant with emphasis on turbine types, their flow-dependent efficiency and their operation range. The second part describes the mathematical model and modeling of changes in the hydrodynamic quantities of the selected hydropower plant. The last part presents the results from the model based on the previously mentioned real or extraordinary hydrological conditions. In the analysis of the operation of the model, all important parts of the hydroelectric power plant chain that affect the accuracy of the operation of the model were used and compared. The levels of the accumulation basin, the flow of water through the selected type of turbine, the efficiency of the turbine depending on the flow and the working area, the regulation of the water level, the rise of the lower water and possible overflow were analyzed. For a better presentation of the model, a visualization of changes in the hydrodynamic quantities of the hydroelectric power plant in the form of a GIF image format was made.
