Secondary title: | Female Characters in the Works of Brina Svit – According to the Feminist Typology of Simone de Beauvoir |
Secondary abstract: | The diploma thesis examines the female literary characters of the Slovenian-French writer Brina Svit. The characters are analysed following the feminist typology of the existentialist philosopher Simone de Beauvoir. A brief description of the modern Slovenian novel is followed by a chapter on Brina Svit. The thesis also discusses the bilingualism of the literary world of the writer living in Paris, which acts as a kind of her oeuvre’s leitmotif. Before embarking upon the main analysis of the work, Simone de Beauvoir’s theory based on the social position of women is presented. In her theory, she illuminates the historical background of women in patriarchy and the perception of women through the male gender and presents different types of women. The theory is also present in the continuation of the research. The core of the discussion is the female characters in Brina Svit’s novels, which are analysed based on a scientific monograph The Second Sex. |
