Abstract

Diplomsko delo predstavi in oriše svetovno razstavo leta 1900 v Parizu v Franciji, uradno poimenovano L'Exposition universelle internationale de 1900, njen pomen in vlogo za nadaljnji razvoj prirejanja svetovnih razstav ter raziskuje, kakšen odmev je imela v poročanju slovenskega časopisja ob izteku 19. stoletja. Poudarjeni so posamezni aspekti razstave, vključno z drugimi olimpijskimi igrami moderne dobe, ki so bili najbolj v ospredju poročanja tedanjega časopisja.

Secondary title: World exposition in Paris in 1900 and its repercussions in Slovene newspapers
Secondary abstract: The thesis presents and outlines the World Exposition in 1900, officially known as L'Exposition universelle internationale de 1900, its meaning and part it played in further development of the world exposition organization. The thesis further explores the repercussions the exposition had in the media coverage of the Slovene print media at the end of the 19th century. The separate aspects of the exposition that were most covered by the print media at the time are presented, one of them being the second Olympic games of the modern era. The thesis mainly focuses on the response and the attitude of the Slovenes to the Parisian exposition and the French, as well as the striving to be the part of the exposition or the viewing of it among the Slovenes, as in the wider area of the Austria-Hungary, as made evident in the writings of the Slovenian print media. The role of colonialism along with the presentation of the Colonial 'Other' in the world expositions is also presented. The example of the Dahomey village of the colonial department of the exposition in 1900 serves as an illustration.
