(diplomsko delo)
Abstract
Uvod: Odnos do migrantov, ljudi različnih veroizpovedi in kultur je odvisen od njihovega sprejemanja v družbi in na nivoju posameznika. Raziskave dokazujejo odstopanja v dostopu do zdravstvenih sredstev, obravnave in odnosu zdravstvenih delavcev do rasnih manjšin. Namen zaključnega dela je opisati odnos medicinskih sester do pacientov rasnih manjšin.
Metode: Opravili smo pregled znanstvenih člankov. Iskanje člankov je potekalo po mednarodnih podatkovnih bazah CINAHL, PubMed in SCOPUS. Za prikaz pregleda in izbora vključene literature smo uporabili PRISMA-pristop. Omejili smo iskalno strategijo na izbrano temo in določeno populacijo, izključili članke, ki so starejši od zadanih limitov, nepopolne in nedosegljive članke.
Rezultati: V končni pregled in analizo smo vključili 11 raziskav.

Nurses´attitudes towards racial minority patients: a systematic review |
Secondary abstract: |
Introducion: With ever-changing political movements, wars and unrest, migration of racial minorities into homogenous populations is becoming more and more common. Accepting migrants, different races, religions and cultures depends on each individual, however, there has been an increase in disparities in health care accessibility, nursing care and healthcare worker-patient relationships. The aim of this systematic review is to dvelve into nurses' attitude towards racial minority patients.
Methods: We have conducted a review of articles in English. Articles have been found through international databases CINAHL, PubMed and SCOPUS. The PRISMA approach was used to present the research process and to showcase chosen literature. We have limited our search strategy to the selected topic and population, excluded articles, older than set limits, excluded incomplete and unattainable articles.
Results: Our findings show, that the existing disparities in patient care of minority patients influences nurses' attitude towards said patients. These disparities emerge due to lack of knowledge, personal beliefs in pre-existing stereotypes of individual nurses, and have a negative effect on patients, as feelings of not being heard and lack of trust arise patients tend to not use available health services.
Discussion and conclusion: Despite accessable information, modern media and literature we are met with general unpreparadness of nurses to care for racial minority patients, which poses as a problem on all levels of public health. Advocating for patients needs, no matter their race is vital for improvement of the patient-nurse relationship. |
