Abstract

Osnovni namen diplomskega dela je preučiti povezavo med spolnim nasiljem in duševno motnjo, imenovano posttravmatska stresna motnja. V diplomskem delu je opisano, kaj je spolno nasilje, spolno nasilje nad otroki in kaj so značilnosti posttravmatske stresne motnje.

Secondary title: Post-Traumatic stress disorder in children - victims of sexual abuse
Secondary abstract: The basic purpose of the thesis is to examine the connection between sexual violence and a mental disorder called post-traumatic stress disorder. The thesis describes what is sexual violence, sexual violence against children and the characteristics of post-traumatic stress disorder. It is explained why victims develop post-traumatic stress disorder after a traumatic event. In order to understand the complex topic, the thesis explains in detail how often and in what ways sexual violence is experienced by people all over the world, especially focused on children. The thesis holds the descriptions of consequences of sexual violence or abuse on children and how sexual abuse in children is recognized and treated. A comparison is also made between the symptoms and diagnostic criteria of post-traumatic stress disorder in adults and children. After reviewing the literature, it became clear that sexual violence is indeed a very common worldwide problem, which is unfortunately often overlooked. Post-traumatic stress disorder in children, who experience trauma from sexual violence, is a very common phenomenon. Girls experience it more often than boys, and in general, children are more at risk of developing post-traumatic stress disorder than adults. Of course, not all individuals who experience trauma will develop it. The risk factors that affect the frequency of the disorder are explained precisely for this reason. It also describes the consequences of sexual violence and post-traumatic stress disorder on adulthood, especially the impact on intimacy.
