magistrsko delo
Abstract

The view of professionals on twice exceptional students and working with them in primary schools |
Secondary abstract: |
The master's thesis deals with the concept of the twice exceptionality of students through the eyes of professionals. Twice exceptionality is not a rare phenomenon nowadays, as in school practice it is possible to find quite a few students who are both talented and have special needs. In the literature, we can see that these students present a special challenge to professionals, as they are difficult to detect or recognize due to their dual characteristics. In the master's thesis, we focused on the knowledge of the term twice exceptional students among professionals, on pedagogical work with twice exceptional students and the qualifications of professionals to work with this group of students, and on their attitudes towards the phenomenon of twice exceptional students. A survey was conducted, in which 312 professional workers from elementary schools were included. In our research, we have found out that among all professional workers, it is teachers for additional professional help and counseling workers who are at the forefront in terms of their knowledge of the term twice exceptional student, as well as in their ability to work with them. Likewise, teachers for additional professional help and counseling workers attribute the greatest importance to the early detection of twice exceptional students, while the least importance is attached to early recognition by professionals who have not been involved in any additional education in the last five years. From the answers, we have also learned that twice exceptional students are mainly provided with additional professional help, additional lessons and help from the teacher of the subject area where the student has problems. The analysis of statements about the opinions of professionals showed that professionals are aware that problems, deficits or disorders can also be seen in gifted students. Despite this awareness, there is an opinion among professionals that it is important to focus on the student's deficits. |
