Abstract

Secondary title: Mistakes made when interviewing child abuse victims
Secondary abstract: Child abuse is one of the worst crimes a man can make. This is why it is so important that we have competent interrogators, that can elicit informations from kids, which can help solve cases of abuse. Although interview with a child is one of the most important things for solving cases of abuse, we still do not have enough of competent interrogators, who can interview a child, in the world. Despite the fact that there are interrogations techniques designed especially for interviewing children, it is still coming to mistakes that can have a big effect in investigations of abuse. This degree paper is focusing on this mistakes and how we can prevent them. Interrogators need to have all information about the abuse and child’s stage of development, which will help them prepare the questions. It is best that they ask open-ended questions, so a child can describe what happened, during abuse, with his own words. Interviewers need to be especially careful that they do not ask suggestive questions. When questioning kids, a big help can be an anatomically correct doll, which helps kids to show where and how the suspect was touching them during abuse. Children’s answers can be better and more reliable, which can bring to conviction of the offender.
