Abstract

Že v knjigi Varstvo in usmerjanje oblikovne podobe slovenskih mest, avtorja, prof. dr.

Secondary title: Conceptual proposal of a comprehensive urbanistic design of Litija’s town centre
Secondary abstract: In a book titled Protection and directing the design image of Slovenian cities, by the author, prof. dr. Pogačnik from the 1990s is writen: “The old market part of Litija is rather devalued with newer buildings and unbuilt premises, as well as with modest micro-urban equipment. The old square, which should be the center of urbanity, is greatly devalued by motor traffic and inadequately renovated houses. Litija is a typical example of how the urban pulse has moved from the old city center, which is left to peripheral functions and social groups.” I find out, that today’s situation is not significantly different, although more than 20 years have passed by, since that was written. Litija, as a city with many local potentials, does not follow modern landscape, architectural and urban approaches in the arrangement of public areas and unfortunately remains trapped in time. In addition, there is not a single modern park in the city, also valuable buildings, marked by cultural heritage, are left to decay. Due to spatial stagnation, Litija faces the danger of perceiving the city as a sleeping settlement. The purpose of the master’s thesis is to release traffic within the city center, with a concept of sharred space. Proposals for the renovation of neglected cultural heritage sites, the creation of open public spaces with the redistribution of existing city monuments and the revitalization of the city center will be submitted in a way that places new social content, urban equipment, green systems and encourages walkability. With such measures, the space will be closer to local residents and visitors.
