Abstract

Naloga ponuja rešitev, kako zelo specifičen program vključiti v javni prostor in ga približati lokalni skupnosti.

Secondary title: Conceptual design of the Center for small animals and parking house in Ljubljana
Secondary abstract: My thesis looked at possible solutions for using architectural language and design in offering convenient, high-quality services for an indispensable part of our families: our pets. I wanted my design to take into account and integrate the predispositions of a specific location. The thesis focuses on an area on the south-eastern slope of Rožnik Hill, in the immediate vicinity of the Ljubljana Zoo. Analysis of the current parking situation, especially that of nearby programmes, reveals insufficient parking capacity in the area and concomitant poor use of the surrounding green spaces. In trying to address the existing state, my thesis offers an architectural solution that enhances this space with a new parking facility in keeping with the objectives of modern, high-quality transport infrastructure. At the same time, it demonstrates a respectful attitude towards the present situation and is closely interconnected with the surrounding nature. Apart from providing an answer to existing problems in the area, my project also presents a vision of a new integrated urban model: The Small Animal Centre. The centre would further enrich the area with a new programme and create a quality public space, which is a public good. The present thesis provides a key for integrating a very specific programme into public space and bringing it closer to the local community.
