Abstract

Zaradi omejevanja stikov in socialnega distanciranja z namenom zaščite ranljivih in krhkih starejših oseb so nastale številne posledice, kot so depresija, osamljenost, motnje razpoloženja, čustvene motnje, razdražljivost. Metode: Izvedli smo pregled znanstvene literature v angleškem in slovenskem jeziku. Pri pregledu, analizi in sintezi člankov smo uporabili naslednje podatkovne baze: CINAHL, PubMed, Sage in Web of Science. S tematsko analizo smo zbrane podatke ustrezno analizirali in sintetizirali.

Secondary title: Loneliness and social isolation in older people during the covid-19 pandemic
Secondary abstract: Introduction: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the world was forced to restrict contact to protect vulnerable groups, including the elderly. The restriction of communication and social distancing to protect more vulnerable groups has led to many consequences, such as depression, the frailty of the elderly, loneliness, mood disorders, emotional disturbances, and irritability. This thesis aims to determine the impact of loneliness and social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental well-being of older people. Methods: We conducted a review of the scientific literature in English and Slovenian. The following databases were used to review, analyse, and synthesise the articles: CINAHL, PubMed, Sage and Web of Science. A PRISMA-recommended search flow diagram was used to select and display pieces from the databases. The thematic analysis was used to analyse and synthesise the data collected. Results: We have included 13 hits out of a total of 1102 hits. Four sub-categories emerged through analysis and synthesis: Biological, Psychological and Social Aspects and Coping with the Pandemic. Based on the sub-categories, we have created one main category: the older person's mental well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic. Discussion and conclusion: The negative impact of loneliness and social isolation has had a negative effect on the mental well-being of older people. This has had several consequences on the mental well-being of older people, negatively affecting the very course of their lives.
