Abstract

V zaključnem delu smo raziskovali učinke korejskega vala na kulturno afiniteto in glasbeni turizem med slovensko mladino, za primer smo vzeli korejsko fantovsko skupino BTS. S ciljem osvetliti povezavo med turizmom, glasbo in kulturo, v teoretičnem delu sprva opredelimo glasbeni turizem kot obliko popkulturnega turizma, vpliv globalizacije in medijev na medkulturne stike, koncept kulturne afinitete ter korejski val, v okviru katerega se posvetimo predstavitvi skupine BTS in njenemu delovanju. Empirični del je obsegal dve raziskavi. S kvalitativno tematsko analizo smo analizirali tri oddaje skupine BTS (Run BTS, BTS In The Soop ter Bon Voyage), da bi pojasnili, kako skupina prek svojih medijskih tekstov reprezentira južnokorejsko kulturo in vedenjske vzorce oboževalcem. Identificirali smo štiri prevladujoče teme oz. kategorije korejskih elementov (hrana, igre, kulturni artefakti in komunikacija) in poudarili, da lahko oboževalci na podlagi opaženih elementov na zabaven način spoznavajo tujo kulturo in ob tem podpirajo skupino. V drugem, kvantitativnem delu raziskovanja pa smo opravili anketo, v kateri nas je zanimalo, ali se slovenski oboževalci BTS razlikujejo od neoboževalcev v kulturni afiniteti, poznavanju južnokorejske kulture ter v želji po obisku Južne Koreje. Ugotavljamo, da oboževalci BTS bolje poznajo južnokorejsko kulturo, se zanjo bolj zanimajo in imajo večjo željo po obisku destinacije kot neoboževalci, med katerimi pa prav tako obstaja nekaj zanimanja.

Secondary abstract: In our thesis we researched the effects of the Korean wave on cultural affinity and music tourism among Slovenian youth, using the Korean boy band BTS as an example. With the aim of addressing the connection between tourism, music and culture, in the theoretical part we initially define music tourism as a form of pop culture tourism, the impact of globalization and media on intercultural interactions, the concept of cultural affinity and the Korean wave, within which we focus on the presentation of the BTS band and its activities. The empirical part consists of two studies. With the use of qualitative thematic analysis, we analyzed three BTS shows (Run BTS, BTS In The Soop and Bon Voyage) in order to explain how these media texts represent the South Korean culture and behavior patterns to BTS fans. We identified four dominant themes or categories of Korean elements (food, games, cultural artifacts, and communication) and highlighted that fans learn about the culture in a fun way and support the band at the same time. The quantitative part of our research covers a survey, in which we were interested in whether Slovenian BTS fans differ from non-fans in terms of cultural affinity, knowledge of South Korean culture and desire to visit South Korea. Our findings show that Slovenian BTS fans know more about, are more interested in South Korean culture and have a greater desire to visit the destination than non-fans, even though there is some interest demonstrated by non-fans too.
