Abstract

Uvod: V svetu je rak jajčnika sedmi najpogostejši rak. Zbolevajo večinoma ženske med 50. in 75. letom starosti. Ženske z rakom jajčnika imajo zaradi zdravljenja in njegovih posledic velike fizične spremembe, ki z izraženimi simptomi povzročajo duševne stiske žensk. Namen: Namen diplomskega dela je predstaviti vpliv raka jajčnikov na duševno zdravje žensk in vlogo medicinske sestre. Metode dela: V diplomskem delu smo uporabili deskriptivno metodo dela. Za iskanje literature smo uporabili iskalnik PubMed, podatkovne baze COBIB.si, CINAHL in Google učenjak.

Secondary title: ǂThe ǂimpact of ovarian cancer on womenʹs mental health and the role of the nurse
Secondary abstract: Introduction: Ovarian cancer is the 7th most common cancer in the world. Mostly women between 50 and 75 years of age are affected. Women with ovarian cancer have major physical changes due to the treatment and its consequences, which cause mental distress for women with expressed symptoms. Purpose The purpose of the thesis is to present the impact of ovarian cancer on women's mental health and the role of the nurse. Methods: In the diploma work, we used the descriptive method of work. We used the PubMed search engine, the COBIB.si, CINAHL and Google Scholar databases to search for literature. The literature search was conducted using the following keywords in Slovenian and English: ovarian cancer, treatment of ovarian cancer, depression in ovarian cancer, anxiety in ovarian cancer, mental distress in ovarian cancer. Results: We found that women experienced a shock when receiving a diagnosis of ovarian cancer. During the literature review, 14 codes were identified, which were determined based on the characteristics of the codes and their interrelationships. The first category includes codes that describe how women experience the disease and treatment of ovarian cancer. The second category includes codes that explain and describe depression and anxiety in women with ovarian cancer. Discussion and conclusion: Ovarian cancer is not yet well researched, its symptoms are very vague, which leads to late cancer detection and thus late treatment. It is necessary to raise women's awareness of the increasingly common cancers in women and their symptoms, as early detection enables successful treatment. That is why it is very important that every woman goes for regular gynecological examinations. Nurses play an important role in raising women's awareness of the risk factors and symptoms of cancer and understanding the hardships women face before, during and after treatment.
