Secondary abstract: | Introduction and purpose: Depression is a serious and very common psychological disorder and is the leading cause of mortality worldwide. Physical activity has many positive effects on physical and mental health. The aim of this thesis is to determine the effects of physical activity on the reduction of depressive symptoms. Methods: We performed a literature review using the advanced search in Pub Med and Cochrane Library. Results: After reviewing the selected studies, we included 14 meta-analyses examining the effects of physical activity on depression symptom reduction in our analysis using the PICO inclusion criteria. Usability: The thesis is aimed primarily at physiotherapists and other health professionals, patients with depression and their families, and others interested in the effects of physical activity on depression. Limitations: The main risk of bias of the studies involved is ensuring the blindness of the subjects or investigators. |
