Secondary title: | Keynesianism and the economic architecture of the European Union |
Secondary abstract: | The present economic architecture of the European Union is based on three institutional pillars: a single European market; a monetary union with a single currency, the euro; and stability of public finances as defined in the Growth and Stability Pact. The author deliberates to what extent these institutions are related to Keynesian economic theory. His opinion is that the economic architecture of the EU is based on neoclassical and not on Keynesian economic theory. The Brussels consensus, which is based on the Washington consensus, has been applied. |
