Abstract

Secondary title: Rehabilitation of a patient after total hip endoprosthesis
Secondary abstract: We described the medical treatment of a patient in a general practice out patient clinic before a total endoprostesis is performed, as well as the treatment performed in a specialist out patient clinic when a patient under goes a total endoprosthesis. We further described different approaches to the operative field, types of endoprosteses, and possible postoperative complications. Finally, we described postoperative rehabilitation, early and late, and the importance of preoperative education of patients with hip endoprostesis. We have described a study pertaining to a successful and applied rehabilitation technique using action observation and motor imaging, which has been used for decades and yields very satisfactory results, especially in patients who are immobilized after surgery. By reviewing the relevant literature and drawing up on the obtained data, we confirmed two hypotheses, namely that the functional status of patients who have undergone total hip endoprosthesis, improves, and that the rate of functional status improvement depends on the type of surgery used.
