Abstract
Ugotovili smo, da domače okolje starejše odrasle spodbuja k izvajanju aktivnosti, jim omogoča dostop do storitev in ohranjanje oz. krepitev socialne mreže.

Experiencing and coping with the hazards and adaptations of the home environment in older adults |
Secondary abstract: |
A person who has reached the age of 65 is classified in the third period of life, which is characterized by many changes in the biological-physiological, psychological and social fields. We found out how older adults experience their home environment, what limitations they face in it, how this affects their daily functioning and whether they use any strategies, aids or adaptations inside the home. In a qualitative research, we conducted semi-structured interviews with five elderly people living in their home environment. Through qualitative data analysis, we determined 3 categories, 12 subcategories and 43 codes. We found that the home environment encourages older adults to carry out activities, enables them to access services and preserve or strengthening the social network. Strategies, tools and adaptations are used quite a bit, and the inclusion of an occupational therapist, who is still an insufficiently known medical expert in Slovenia, is key. |
