Abstract

Namen diplomskega dela je raziskati sintezo nano palčk železovega oksalata dihidrata, FeC2O4 % 2 H2O in njegovo pretvorbo v maghemit, % % Fe2O3, preko kontroliranega termičnega razkroja. Pri reakciji smo uporabili anionski surfaktant AOT, ki je pomemben za kontroliranje oblike in velikosti produktov. Pripravili smo dve identični raztopini. AOT je bil najprej raztopljen v mešanih raztopinah, sestavljenih iz etilenglikola, C2H4(OH)2, in destilirane vode, H2O. Raztopini smo mešali 30 minut. Pripravljenima identičnima raztopinama smo dodali amonij železov (II) sulfat heksahidrat, (NH4)2Fe(SO4)2 % 6 H2O, in natrijev oksalat, Na2C2O4 ter mešali 20 minut. Ti dve raztopini sta bili počasi premešani skupaj z nadaljnjim mešanjem pri sobni temperaturi. Po koncu reakcije smo usedlino železovega oksalata dihidrata, FeC2O4 % 2 H2O, zbirali s centrifugiranjem, sprali z destilirano vodo in etanolom ter končno sušili. Iz dobljenega železovega oksalata dihidrata, smo pripravili maghemit s segrevanjem na temperaturo 400 °C, s hitrostjo 2 K/min v dušikovi atmosferi. Produkte smo karakterizirali z rentgensko praškovno difrakcijo (XRD). Dobili smo želene produkte, vendar so bile ponekod prisotne primesi. Izbrane vzorce smo karakterizirali tudi s transmisijsko elektronsko mikroskopijo.

Secondary abstract: The purpose of this diploma was to research the synthesis of nanorods - like iron oxalate dihydrate, FeC2O4 % 2 H2O, and its transformation in maghemite, % % Fe2O3, through controlled thermal decomposition. We used anion surfactant AOT, which is important to control the morphologies and sizes of the products. We prepared two identical solutions. AOT was first dissolved in the mixed solvents composed of ethylene glycol, C2H4(OH)2, and distilled water, H2O. The solvents were stirred for 30 minutes. Ammonium iron (II) sulfate heksahydrate, (NH4)2Fe(SO4)2 % 6 H2O, and natrium oxalate, Na2C2O4, were added to prepared identical solutions and stirred for 20 minutes. These two solutions were slowly mixed together with continuous stirring at room temperature. After the reaction completed, the iron oxalate dihydrate, FeC2O4 % 2 H2O, precipitate was collected by centrifuging, washed several times with distilled water and ethanol, and finally dried. From as%prepared FeC2O4 % 2 H2O, we prepared maghemite with heating to temperature 400 °C at a heating rate of 2 K/min under nitrogen atmosphere. We characterized the products by X-ray powder diffraction. We managed to obtain the desired products, however some of the unreacted admixture were found. Some selected samples have been characterised by the transmission electron microscopy.
