Abstract

Secondary title: Analysis of mechanical properties of steels at elevated operating temperatures
Secondary abstract: The main objective of the MSc thesis is to analyse the mechanical properties of steels at elevated operating temperatures. The basic structure of metals, crystal structures and the tensile test, which is the basis for determining the properties of materials, are presented in detail. Tensile testing is a standardised procedure prescribed by ISO 6892-1 and ISO 6892-2, which specify the conditions for testing materials. The aim of the thesis was to determine how the mechanical properties of steel change with increasing temperature, and how the mechanical properties of steel are affected by the amount of iron and other alloying elements. To determine the effect of temperature and chemical composition on the mechanical properties of the steel, chemical analysis of the samples and tensile tests were carried out over a temperature range of 90 °C to 250 °C.
