Abstract

V nalogi so predstavljeni teoretski vidiki institucije materinstva in zgodovinski razvoj vloge matere.

Secondary abstract: The Masters' thesis Družbena vloga matere po prenehanju zakonske in izvenzakonske zveze (Social role of a mother after a divorce or a break-up) deals with the role of the mother in the time during the marriage and after a break-up or divorce. The thesis represents the theoretical sights of the maternity institutions and the historical development of a mother's role. The thesis represents the marriage and the divorce, the reasons, which are responsible for that turning point, as well as the consequences, to which the performance of a mother's and a father's role are bond. The empirical part of the thesis represents quantitative (on base of opinion polls) and qualitative (detailed interviews with mothers and experts at the Centre for Social Labour) research and their results, how mothers and fathers participate at upbringing of their children after their marriage or break-ups, how much they are interested in the common upbringing of children, do they accept professional help, do they want to associate and be informed, do they trust in the existing state institutions and civil societies, in case they know are well informed about. The results have shown that, through the divorce or the break-up the mother's role comes much more to the foreground, at the same time the father's role steps more into the background, although this is not what mothers want. The results of the quantitative research have shown that in most cases of divorces or break-up s the children stayed at their mothers. Fathers agreed with the decision. Both parents are prepared to cooperate for the good of their children. It seems important and necessary for them (mothers approve fathers' cooperation at upbringing), if the father has positive influence on the child. Mothers reject associating with fathers after divorce or break-up but are prepared to find professional help and appreciate the function of the existing state institutions. Nevertheless, they are not informed about the civil societies and their activities.
