diplomsko delo

Abstract

Diplomsko delo obravnava socialno anksioznost v mladostništvu in njeno povezanost s psihosocialnim položajem mladostnikov in mladostnic v razredu.

Secondary title: Social anxiety in adolescence and its connection with adolescent's psychosocial position in the classroom
Secondary abstract: My diploma work deals with social anxiety in adolescence and its connection with psychosocial status of male and female adolescents in the classroom. In the theoretical part of my thesis the emphasis is on defining, developing and causes of social anxiety. The main features of concepts which are connected with my work regarding this kind of anxiety have also been described. These are: the period of the adolescence, self-image in the adolescence, the class as a group, the psychosocial status of a pupil in the class and patterns of behaviour. Empirically, the thesis refers to the results obtained by the questionnaire and the sociometric test, which were administered to 121 students of the seventh and eigth class of three elementary schools. On the basis of the sociometric test for each pupil, included in the study, his/her psychosocial status in the classroom was defined. Thus, a possible classification of the pupils surveyed consists of five sociometric groups: popular, rejected, ignored, controversial and average students. The categorisation of the respondents in the five groups allowed further comparison between students according to their results, obtained by the questionnaire which contained questions related to social anxiety, self-image and general learning success of students in the previous school year. Hypotheses that were set as the starting point of my work, were also evaluated after the comparison between different variables. It was found out that there is no connection between the psychosocial status of the pupils in the class and the degree of social anxiety on a selected sample.
