Abstract

Diplomsko delo obravnava življenje družin otrok z motnjami v duševnem razvoju, ki so vključeni v Dnevni center Maribor - organizacijska enota ZUDV Dornava.

Secondary title: Life of families with children with intellectual disabilities included in Daily center Maribor – organisational unit ZUDV Dornava
Secondary abstract: My diploma work treats the life of families with children with mental disabilities who are included in Daily center Maribor - organisational unit ZUDV Dornava. The family of a child with intellectual disabilities is confronted already in the starting point with quite different problems as the family with healthy children. In the theoretical part of my thesis, therefore, the concept of family and intellectual disabilities are dealt with in the first place, and then follow areas, which reflect the impact of a child's disabilities on the family, such as the role of a child with intellectual disabilities inside the family, partnership problems between parents, the situation of a child's brothers and sisters and the interaction of the family with social environment. Professional help is not needed only for a disabled child, but for the whole family. Therefore, the focus of the task is also on the work of experts with families who have disabled children. Empirically, the thesis refers to the results obtained by the questionnaire. This was addressed to 19 parents whose children are included in Dnevni center Maribor. It was found that the majority of surveyed parents fully adjusted their life to a child with disability, which reflected in both the parents' employment as well as in the performance of their everyday tasks. Most information about their children's disorders, although according to some respondents too late, parents received from the medical staff. They are mostly satisfied with the social environment in which they are situated. Most of the surveyed parents are not included in any of the groups that provide help and support for parents of children with special needs. Nevertheless, they socialize a lot with other families with similar problems.
