Secondary title: | Feminist problematization of the treatment of female sexuality |
Secondary abstract: | The thesis is a theoretical study of some of the more important theories of female sexuality and the connection of the latter with power and the social position of women. It includes Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytical perception of the female sexual development and feminist criticisms of this perception. However it particularly focuses on the definition of power in the theory of Michel Foucault and the connection between power and the construction of the female body and the female sexual subject. The analytical tools and concepts provided by feminist theories and Foucault's theory are finally used in treating the image and the construction of female sexuality in modern Slovene women-oriented media. Thereby the author finds that along with the women's social position their public image and their sexual role and image have changed as well. In part the roots of these new images could be traced to the feminist criticisms from the sixties and the seventies of the previous century, but they lack the same social criticisms and the politics of collective action. |
