Abstract

V pričujočem diplomskem delu predstavimo razširitev vzorčnega razvojnega okolja Zabbix z razvito aplikacijo za upravljanje konfiguracij. Na začetku dela v teoretičnem pregledu spoznamo osnove monitoriranja računalniških omrežij ter predstavimo prednosti razvite aplikacije. V nadaljevanju definiramo njene funkcionalnosti ter prikažemo njihovo umestitev v domeno opazovanega omrežja. Vsako od teh funkcionalnosti natančno predstavimo in prikažemo njeno uporabnost pri porajanju problemov v omrežjih. Sledi prikaz arhitekture Zabbixa in razvite aplikacije ter opis njune medsebojne komunikacije. Pri tem opišemo tudi obe uporabljeni podatkovni bazi. Prvo uporablja Zabbix strežnik za shranjevanje zbranih podatkov z opazovanih naprav, drugo pa uporablja razvita aplikacija za shranjevanje konfiguracij omrežnih naprav. Nato opišemo vzorčno monitorirano omrežje, kjer izpostavimo sedem različnih vzorčnih scenarijev pojavitev problema. Na koncu podrobneje predstavimo reševanje vsakega izmed teh problemov z uporabo razvite aplikacije.

Secondary title: Monitoring and device configuration management in computer networks
Secondary abstract: In this thesis we present an extension of the monitoring solution Zabbix with a developed configuration management application. We start with a theoretical overview of the basics of monitoring computer networks and present the advantages of the developed application. Then, we define its functionalities and show their placement in the domain of the monitored network. Each of these functionalities is presented in detail and a real-world example of its applicability is shown. This is followed by a description of the architecture of Zabbix and the application and a description of the communication between them. In doing so, we describe in detail the two databases used. One is used by the Zabbix server to store the collected data from the observed devices, the other is used by the developed application to store the configurations of the network devices. We then describe a sample monitored network, where we highlight seven different sample scenarios of problem occurrence. Finally, we present in detail the solution of each of these seven problems with the use of the developed application.
