Jezikovni registri v angleških in nemških podnapisih v filmu Varuh meje na primeru filmskih vlog Tanje Potočnik, Pie Zemljič, Ive Krajnc in Jonasa Žnidaršiča

Abstract

Namen pričujoče diplomske naloge je bil preveriti prevajalčevo upoštevanje variacij v registru v angleških in nemških podnapisih za slovenski film Varuh meje na primeru filmskih vlog Alje, Žane, Simone in Varuha meje. Odigrali so jih Tanja Potočnik, Pia Zemljič, Iva Krajnc in Jonas Žnidaršič. Primerjava angleških in nemških podnapisov s slovensko transkripcijo govora omenjenih filmskih likov je temeljila na primerjalno-opisnem modelu K. M. van Leuven-Zwart (1989, 1990). Prevodni premiki v obliki neupoštevanja registra izhodiščnega besedila v ciljnem besedilu so bili določeni s primerjavo sistemov jezikovne zvrstnosti slovenskega, angleškega in nemškega jezika, predstavljenih v teoretičnem delu pričujoče diplomske naloge. Primerjalna analiza je pokazala, da prevajalca nista dosledno upoštevala variacij jezikovnega registra, kar je v nemških in angleških podnapisih mestoma radikalno spremenilo jezikovne in druge značilnosti upodobljenih filmskih oseb. Podrobnejši rezultati primerjalne analize so predstavljeni v sklepnem delu diplomske naloge.

Secondary abstract:	The aim of this diploma paper was to provide an insight into subtitling of the Slovene film Varuh meje (eng. Guardian of the Frontier). During the analysis of the subtitles, special attention was paid to the stylistic rendering of the Slovene film transcript into English and German, especially concerning the varieties in the register. The transcript was based on the speech of Alja (Tanja Potočnik), Žana (Pia Zemljič), Simona (Iva Krajnc), and Guardian of the Frontier (Jonas Žnidaršič), who are the main characters in the film. The analysis of the subtitles, on the other hand, was based on K. M. van Leuven-Zwart's comparative-descriptive model of translation shifts. These were defined in terms of their deviation from the source text regarding the varieties in the register. The analysis has shown that the translators did not pay enough attention to the register in the source text; consequently, some radical micro and macrostructural changes occurred in English and German subtitles. These shifts, which occasionally radically change the characteristics of the characters in the film, were thoroughly described in the conclusion of the diploma paper.
