Abstract
Doslednost je ena od pomembnejših elementov pri vzgoji. Zaradi pomanjkanja doslednosti mnogokrat prihaja do problemov na relaciji starši - otrok oziroma vzgojitelj - otrok. Mnogokrat popuščamo otrokovemu moledovanju. Včasih naredimo nekaj, česar v normalnih okoliščinah nikoli ne bi, v raztresenosti pa popustimo. Starši in vzgojitelji se mnogokrat najdemo v okoliščinah, ko na otroka težko vplivamo. Včasih je to zaradi napornega dne v službi, včasih zaradi utrujenosti ali katerega drugega vzroka prepustimo otroka "samovzgoji", namesto da bi aktivno sodelovali v njegovi vzgoji. Za doslednost v vzgoji si moramo vzeti čas. S pretepanjem, kričanjem, grožnjo nikoli ne bomo dosegli, da se bo otrok primerno obnašal. Vedeti moramo, da je otrok oseba s svobodno voljo, ki jo bo slej ko prej izkoristil. Doslednost nam omogoča, da to, kar govorimo, mislimo resno, otrokom pa doslednost pomaga, da se nas naučijo jemati resno. Doslednost predstavlja veliko večji izziv za starše, ki so doslej otroke reševali ali ščitili pred posledicami njihovih odločitev. Starši in vzgojitelji moramo v vzgoji otrok postaviti meje, preko katerih se ne sme. Včasih se zdi, da bi bilo laže, če bi bili popustljivejši. Vztrajati pri svojih odločitvi je res včasih težko, vendar se moramo zavedati, da bo vzgoja prava, če bomo dosledni.

Consistency is one of the basic elements of upbringing. Lack of consistency causes problems in parents - children and nursery teachers - children relationships. Often, we give in to children's begging. Sometimes, we act differently than we normally do in similar circumstances. In our absent-mindedness we endure children's demands. Parents and nursery teachers often find ourselves in situations when we can hardly influence children. Sometimes this is the consequence of a hard day at work. Sometimes exhaustion or some other reason is the cause of leaving children to themselves instead of actively participating in their upbringing. Consistency in upbringing requires time. Corporal punishment, yelling or threatening children are unacceptable and unsuccessful methods of teaching children to behave. We have to be aware of the fact that children are people with their own free will, which they try to exercise sooner or later. Consistency enables us to be taken seriously. It also represents a challenge to parents who are used to protecting their children's decisions. Although it may sometimes seem easier to endure children's demands, it is absolutely necessary for parents and nursery teachers to set firm boundaries. Sticking firmly to our decisions and rules is sometimes hard, but we have to realize that being consistent is the successful method of upbringing. |
