diplomsko delo
Abstract

UNDERSTANDING THE CRITERIA FOR IDENTIFYING AND ASSESSING CHARACTERISTICS OF MUSICALLY TALENTED PUPILS |
Secondary abstract: |
Dependable and precise rating scales criteria facilitate teachers' recognition of musically talented students. The aim of the paper is to present the criteria for identifying and assessing the characteristics of musically talented students as defined by Črčinovič Rozman and Kovačič (2010, at the printer's), and to reveal class teachers' comprehension of these criteria. Furthermore, the question was whether there was any discrepancy in understanding the criteria due to the educational period and length of teaching (ie work experience). The theoretical part sheds light on the process of identifying gifted students in Slovenian primary schools, characteristics of musically talented students, and rating scales criteria by certain authors in the field of music. The empirical part is based on a descriptive non-experimental method of empirical pedagogical research. A group of 338 class teachers teaching in the first and second triennia (with under and over ten years' teaching experience) have been surveyed. The Mann-Whitney test applied has shown no statistically significant difference in understanding the criteria for identifying and assessing characteristics of musically talented pupils. Moreover, the findings indicate a very good comprehension of the above-mentioned criteria. |
