Abstract
Podatki o spolu, starosti in telesni samopodobi so bili pridobljeni s pomočjo poslovenjene različice francoske verzije vprašalnika za ugotavljanje telesne samopodobe mladostnikov The Physical Self-Inventory - short form.

CHILDREN'S PHYSICAL SELF - CONCEPT AND BODY MEASUREMENTS |
| Secondary abstract: |
The aim of our research was to establish whether there is a correlation between the body measurements of children and their physical self-concept. The research included 630 children from northeastern part of Slovenia, ageing from 9 to 11. Among them there were 311 boys and 319 girls, and 202 nine-year-old, 217 ten-year-old, and 211 eleven-year-old children respectively. The measurements took place in the following elementary schools: OŠ Franca Rozmana Staneta, OŠ Toneta Čufarja (both in Maribor), OŠ Markovci, OŠ Cirkulane-Zavrč, OŠ Gustava Šiliha Laporje, and OŠ Šmarje pri Jelšah. The children's body measurements were gained with the use of anthropometric equipment, whereas for the measurements of body fat, fat-free body mass and water we used the Maltron BF-907 body composition analyser. We used the Slovene adaptation of the French version questionnaire The Physical Self-Inventory - short form to obtain the information about the sex, age, and physical self-concept. To define the correlation between the individual body measurements and the physical self-concept the regression analysis was used. The statistically important differences were determined on the risk level of 0,05 (p%0,05). The results show that the correlation between physical self-concept and body measurements is statistically characteristic only for boys, and that the importance of this correlation is increasing when children are growing older. We have come to the conclusion that the most important factors for the boys' physical self-concept are body height, body weight and body fat percentage. |
