Abstract

Secondary abstract: Nowadays, people spend a lot of time in nature. After 2020, when the »Corona virus« epidemic hit us, we found even more in nature a disconnection from work, something for the soul and body. But we forget that nature is on the one hand our source of life and sustenance. Therefore, we should appreciate it more and keep it as it is. But, because human on the other hand longs for profit or earnings, in order to afford the best, unfortunately he also interferes with nature. This master's thesis describes whether there is a connection between ecological and economic crime in a specific case in the municipality of Moravče. It is a description of a case where a large mining company allegedly dumped hazardous waste on its land. The consequences of dumping and burying such waste are felt by the inhabitants of the municipality. Whether it was really a matter of dumping hazardous waste will be discussed below. The essential purpose is that there is a connection between ecological and economic crime, if we only compare the characteristics of both crimes. Among them we find many images, but the biggest one is certainly a human. Only he can be the perpetrator or the victim in both cases. In most cases we find that one is with the other. Namely, the main characteristic that connects him is greed. Human greed and desire to make money knows no bounds. That is why human interferes with nature. But he doesn't know that in the long run he is harming himself and his loved ones. He no longer allows himself a healthy environment. This also makes him a victim. That is why it is important to draw even more attention to ecological as well as economic crime. However, since ecological criminality is a new branch of criminology and is also little researched, it is important to emphasize it both in kindergartens and schools and later in companies, organizations, etc. By raising awareness, regulating legislation and focusing on nature conservation, we will help preserve nature together.
