Prehrana pegaste sove, Tyto alba (Scopoli, 1769), na otoku Korčula

Abstract

Analizirala sem prehrano pegaste sove na otoku Korčula. Sova se je prehranjevala skoraj izključno z malimi sesalci (mišmi, rovkami, podganami); ostalo so bili ptiči. V izbljuvkih sem identificirala 5 različnih vrst malih sesalcev. Na osnovi sestave izbljuvkov sem ugotovila razširjenost malih sesalcev na raziskovanem območju. Sova je najpogosteje plenila hišno miš (Mus musculus domesticus), sledile so navadna belonoga miš (Apodemus sylvaticus), vrtna rovka (Crocidura suaveolens) in črna podgana (Rattus rattus). Našla sem tudi eno okostje širokouhega netopirja (Barbastella barbastellus). Najdene lobanje podgan sem razdelila v starostne razrede in ugotovila, da se je sova prehranjevala predvsem z mladimi odraslimi podganami.

Secondary abstract:	I have analysed a diet of barn owl on island of Korčula. A owl fed on small mammals almost solely (mice, shrews, rats); birds were other. I identified 5 different kinds of small mammals in vomits. On base of composition of vomits found distribution of small mammals on investigated range. A owl was looting a mouse (Mus musculus domesticus) oftenest, a common long-tailed field mouse (Apodemus sylvaticus), a lesser shrew (Crocidura suaveolens) and a house rat (Rattus rattus) went by her. I found also one skeleton of Western barbastelle (Barbastella barbastellus). I distributed found skulls of rats also in age classes and found, that a owl had fed above all on young adult rats.
