Abstract

Regije, opredeljene v tej nalogi, so ekonomskogeografskega značaja, saj je bil kazalec, s katerim smo jih opredelili, obseg in število dnevnih migrantov. V četrti skupini so mesta Ljubljana, Maribor in Murska Sobota.

Secondary title: City regions in Slovenia
Secondary abstract: City regions are areas around cities where the inhabitants use city activities for meeting their needs. Between the cities and the settlements that surround them, numerous connections are established which more and more connect the region in an administrative, economic and social sense. City regions are established to meet the needs of the gravitation area inhabitants in a region center. Their establishment is also influenced by the fast development of means of transport and the enhancement of the transport infrastructure which decreases the time necessary to travel from cities to outskirts and back. According to the elements that establish city regions, we can define two types of city regions in geography: - economic geographic city regions, - social geographic city regions. Regions defined in this thesis are of economic geographic character as we used scope and the number of daily migrants as indicators to define them. The data was acquired from the population census in 2002. On the basis of data analysis we could classify Slovenian towns in four groups: 1. towns that do not have a city region and are not the center of a region; 2. towns that do not have a city region and are the center of a region; 3. towns with a less distinctive city region; 4. towns with a distinctive city region. The first two groups that represent towns without city regions encompass fifty-six Slovenian towns. The third group encompasses six towns: Celje, Kranj, Nova Gorica, Novo mesto, Ptuj and Velenje. Ljubljana, Maribor and Murska Sobota were placed in the fourth group. According to the criteria used in this thesis, nine Slovenian towns have city regions. However, city regions are a dynamic category and their number and scope at the beginning of the industrialization of Slovenia were surely different from the ones established on the basis of data from 2002. It will be interesting to observe their further development.
