magistrsko delo
Tina Gregurec (Author), Janja Tekavc (Mentor)

Abstract

V magistrskem delu obravnavamo šolanje osebe z Aspergerjevim sindromom.

Secondary title: Characteristics of University Transition and the Study of a Person with Asperger sindrom: A Case Study
Secondary abstract: In the master's thesis, we discuss the education of a person with Asperger syndrome. We focused on transitioning from secondary school to university and adjustments during studies. In the theoretical part, we first explain what autism spectrum disorders are, including Asperger syndrome. We provide several characteristics for easier recognition and acceptance of these disorders. The focus is on Asperger syndrome in adulthood, as our case study is a student about to transition into adulthood. The theoretical part is concluded with students at Slovenian universities and their adjustments in the entire study environment; we also refer to the instructions given to professional staff at universities. These instructions are additionally discussed in the empirical part. The main part of the empirical part presents the results collected from interviews with the boy from our case study, his mother and a pedo-psychiatrist. The content of the interviews is mainly related to the period of the boy's previous education, emphasizing the transition from secondary school to university, which is a challenging transition for people with Asperger syndrome. Based on the analysis of the case study, we summarize his education process from elementary school to university and give some practical guidelines for professionals in the field of education who deal with people with Asperger syndrome at work.
