Abstract

V teoretičnem delu je najprej podrobneje prikazana opredelitev branja, vrste branja, bralni razvoj mladega bralca, bralna značka, dnevnik branja in bralna društva. Sledi večje poglavje o motivaciji, tipi motivacije in štirje splošni pristopi k motivaciji.

Secondary title: READING MOTIVATION IN PRIMARY SCHOOL
Secondary abstract: The diploma thesis presents in detail three broad subjects that intertwine: reading, motivation and reading motivation. The focus is on reading motivation of students (from sixth to ninth grade) and teachers of Slovene at Primary school Dušan Flis Hoče. The thesis is divided into introductory, theoretical and empirical part where a research, results and their interpretation are presented, and a conclusion. In the theoretical part there are first presented definitions of reading, types of reading, reading development of young readers, reading badge, reading diary and reading clubs. These are followed by a more extensive chapter about motivation, types of motivation and four general approaches toward motivation. The last chapter of the theoretical part deals with reading motivation where there is internal as well as external motivation presented, connection of reading motivation with reading/academic achievements, connection of reading motivation with gender and age of pupils, and finally reading motivation factors influencing primary school students. With the help of two different questionnaires (Questionnaire 1 for students and Questionnaire 2 for teachers) we got the results that show that female students of the above mentioned school read more often than male students. The survey indicates different reasons for reading books according to pupils' gender and grade they are in (from sixth to ninth grade). Conclusion made about the teachers is that reading motivation is very important for them and therefore probably also often use it.
